All students are encouraged to be active participants in a dynamic community of learners and inspired to become valued citizens and enthusiastic learners for life. We nurture the development of talent and creative ability through a balanced exposure to academic, cultural, service, social, spiritual and sporting opportunities.
St Andrew’s has strong traditions and a reputation as one of New Zealand’s leading independent day and boarding schools. We have proudly been co-educational since 1991, and believe there are many benefits for boys and girls when they learn alongside each other. Please click here to find out more.

Alexandra Wilson (OC 2016)...Our students leave us as confident young adults, resilient and better prepared for life in today's world.
Christine Leighton, RectorWe are incredibly proud of our thriving co-educational community at St Andrew’s College, Te Kāreti o Hato Ānaru, where boys and girls explore, learn, create and grow together. From Pre-school to Year 13 they enjoy the ideal preparation for life beyond the school gates.
Together the students play sport, create music and stage ambitious productions. They make films, explore the great outdoors and take on physical challenges. They plan dances and social events, debate, develop business ventures, conduct science experiments and solve complex mathematical problems. Together they travel to faraway places, work in disadvantaged communities and work as teams understanding their own individual strengths and abilities.
There is a feeling of genuine inclusiveness at St Andrew’s, with an absence of ‘exclusive’ groups. We strongly believe that diversity is good. There is no doubt that operating as a co-educational school since 1991 has created this culture, which is embraced and celebrated by all who are involved with St Andrew’s today.
St Andrew’s College, Te Kāreti o Hato Ānaru, is co-ed and proud of it… after all, isn’t that what life is all about?
